WE ARE GUTTED TO ANNOUNCE THAT COVID HAS SPOILT THE PARTY ONCE AGAIN... WE WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH EVERYONE THAT BOUGHT TICKETS.  DO NOT FEAR, LIKE ARNIE... WE WILL BE BACK IN THE NEW YEAR.

Oh yes, its the Downbeat's Christmas Party and we want you all to come!  To celebrate the end of this flippin nightmare of a Covid pandemic lets party like the world is (not) going to end! Think old school Christmas party, with tinsel, party poppers, daft hats and streamers... oh and we will sling on a bit of Slade and classic Christmas 'Spector' too, why the hell not?!!  As well as the usual Downbeat sounds British R&B, Mod Classics and Club a' Gogo faves expect a certain level of cheesiness, its Christmas after all! So dust off that naff Santa hat, get your glad rags on and lets have one hell of party!!!  If you can't dance at Christmas then you haven't got a pulse!  See you on the dancefloor and a Ho! Ho! Ho!

Some club history for you ...

The Downbeat Club is intrinsically linked to the Club a'Gogo. It started off as a jazz club but then as musical tastes changed the club started to play was the deep R&B sounds the Newcastle Beats and Mods loved. The Downbeat was also a venue for The Animals before they got their residency at the Club a'Gogo. We'll be doing our best to capture that that gritty Downbeat sound that we know you all love.
